Professor Bart CJM Fauser, MD, PhD, is Professor of Reproductive Medicine, University of
Utrecht and Chair of the Woman & Baby Division (including Departments of Reproductive
Medicine & Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Neonatology), University Medical Center, Utrecht, The
Netherlands.
From 2003 to 2008, Professor Fauser was the Saal van Zwanenberg Professor, Centre for
Reproductive Medicine, Free University of Brussels, Belgium. Prior to this he was Professor
of Reproductive Endocrinology and director of the Center of Reproductive Medicine,
Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (1996 to 2003). He was a Visiting
Professor at Stanford School of Medicine, Palo Alto, California, USA from 1993 to 1995 and
a Fulbright post-doctoral Scholar at the University of California, San Diego, California (1987
to 1988).
Professor Fauser’s major research interest is the pathophysiology of human ovarian function.
He has published around 300 international peer reviewed papers and many international
book chapters and the work of his group has been widely covered in national and
international news media. Professor Fauser has been Editor-in-Chief of the textbook
Molecular Biology in Reproductive Medicine and was Editor-in-Chief of Human Reproduction
Update from 2001 to 2007.
