Barry M. Brenner, MD, received the Robert G. Narins Award on Friday, November 19. Dr. Brenner is director emeritus of the renal division of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Samuel A. Levine Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston. The award honors those who have made substantial contributions to education and teaching.

Dr. Brenner earned his MD degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1962 and completed his internal medicine residency at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in 1966. He continued his career in research positions at the National Heart Institute and the University of California, San Francisco, before arriving at Harvard in 1976. He has held various positions at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, including director of the laboratory of kidney and electrolyte physiology.
