Barry Braun received his Ph.D. in Nutrition from the University of California, Berkeley with post-doctoral work at Stanford University. He was a professor of kinesiology and director of the Energy Metabolism Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Amherst before becoming a professor and head of the Department of Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University in 2014.

Dr. Braun's research program is focused on optimizing the use of exercise to prevent and/or manage type-2 diabetes. His work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Braun is a Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology and the American College of Sports Medicine. He received several awards for teaching including the University of Massachusetts Distinguished Teaching Award. (Speaker biography at time of recording)
