Dr. Barbara S. Saunders, a developmental-behavioral pediatrician, is on faculty at the University of Mississippi Medical Center as an assistant professor of pediatrics and the director of resident and medical student education for the Division of Child Development. She serves as the chairperson for the education and training committee of the CAY Center and is a member of the CAY Center's executive council. After receiving a B.S. in biology from the University of Mobile, AL, in 2003, she earned her D.O. at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007. She then completed an internship in pediatrics from 2007-08 and a pediatrics residency from 2008-10, both at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine/Oklahoma State University Medical Center. From 2010-13, she was a developmental-behavioral pediatrics fellow at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she also earned a Graduate Certificate in Clinical and Translational Science in May 2013.

She is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Osteopathic Association, the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association, and the Mississippi State Medical Association. She is the coauthor of two peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Saunders serves on the legislative committee for the Mississippi Chapter of the AAP and participated in the state medical association’s first Physician Leadership Academy.
