Barbara Banks-Wiggins has over 30-years’ experience leading award-winning multi-specialty healthcare operations and managing multi-million-dollar budgets. With expertise in population health, care coordination program development, interagency collaboration, community engagement, and information technology adoption, Barbara currently serves as the founding Executive Director of the Prince George’s Healthcare Alliance, Inc. Barbara designed, developed, and implemented the Care Coordination and Community Health Worker Programs for the Prince George’s Healthcare Alliance and for its predecessor program, the Prince George’s County Health Department’s Health Enterprise Zone Grant. These programs improved health outcomes, reduced hospital visits by 54%, and reduced costs by 1.4 million dollars, leading the Prince George’s Healthcare Alliance to receive the 2019 Health Quality Innovator of the Year Award for Best Population Health Program in Maryland by HQI, the state quality improvement organization, and the 2018 HQI Award for Best Patient-Centered Care Program. Barbara has led multiple projects that improved care coordination and advanced the health information infrastructure in the county.

These projects include the Prince George’s County Public Health Information Network that connected hospital systems with physician practices, and the Consent 2 Share behavioral health technology that integrated primary care with behavioral health. Consent 2 Share has been implemented by healthcare organizations across the country. Prior to her service in public health, Barbara spent 20 years working for Kaiser Permanente, having led medical center operations in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and Washington, DC. Throughout her career, Barbara has achieved award-winning success addressing social determinants of health. Barbara has participated in many speaking engagements, sharing her innovative projects with audiences across the country and contributing to the nationwide implementation of evidence-based strategies that enhance quality, drive care improvement, and create healthier communities. Barbara was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and earned her B.S. degree in Health Administration from Eastern Michigan University and her M.S. degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. Barbara currently resides in Washington, DC.
