Dr. Baraka D. Floyd is a pediatrician at a federally qualified health center and Associate Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford School of Medicine. She is also the Medical Director of the Peninsula Family Advocacy Program: A Medical-Legal Partnership (FAP), and core faculty for HOPE: Healthy Outcomes of Positive Experiences. She has spearheaded local initiatives around post-partum/perinatal depression, behavioral health, educational support, screening for and holistically addressing social determinants of health, and diaper insecurity. As part of Stanford’s Pediatric Advocacy Program and the Mid-Peninsula Pediatric Advocacy Coalition, she recently co-founded Diapers at the Doctor, a sustainable clinic-based diaper distribution program. Dr. Floyd is also a member of the Stanford Pediatrics Advancing Anti-Racism Coalition (SPARC) Leadership Team charged with addressing racism via 7 key areas ranging from community engagement to training. Parallel to her local efforts, Dr. Floyd has served as a medical consultant for DULCE (Developmental Understanding and Legal Collaboration for Everyone) and MLPB (formerly Medical-Legal Partnership½Boston), both focused on working upstream with patients, families, and care teams to address the social determinants of health. Dr. Floyd is a graduate of the Morehouse School of Medicine and completed her residency at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.
