Dr. Balwir Matharoo-Ball has a wealth of experience in academic research as well as the NHS. Dr. Balwir Matharoo-Ball is Deputy Director of the Biobank and is the PPI lead for the NHSB and is a member of the PPI Strategy Board for NUH Bal manages a team of 20 staff scientific and biomedical staff with a wide range of biobanking, informatics, and technical skills. Baldwin Matharoo-Ball is a co-applicant on the Breast Cancer Now Tissue Bank grant which has secured over £2.5 million over the last 5 years in grant funding.
Balwir Matharoo-Ball is a member of the European, Middle Eastern, and African Society for Biopreservation and Biobanking (ESBB) and also the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER). I am also on the Programme Committee for ESBB. Prior to this Dr. Matharoo-Ball was a Senior Post Doctoral Research Fellow for 12 years both at Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham. After gaining her PhD in 1994 from Keele University Dr. Balwir Matharoo-Ball became Head of Biomedical Sciences in Oman for 4 years.
