Bahar Kaymakamzade completed her specialty training in the Department of Neurology at Hacettepe University. During her residency, she carried out academic studies with an emphasis on Neuroimmunology. She received training and studied cerebrospinal fluid analysis at the University of Ulm. In 2011 she returned to Cyprus and spent two years at Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. She was the first physician who applied thrombolytic therapy in acute ischemic stroke on the island.
Bahar Kaymakamzade's work on increasing awareness about stroke and its emergent intervention continues under the roof of the Cyprus Turkish Neurology Association, of which she is one of the founding members. In 2013, she passed the exam of the European Academy of Neurology and received the title of “Fellow of the European Academy of Neurology. She was registered with General Medical Council in England. She has been working as a lecturer at Near East University Medical School, Department of Neurology since 2013.
In 2017 she became an associate professor. Dr. Kaymakamzade thinks that medical practice and academic life were two halves of a whole that nurture and develop each other and has been working as a medical education coordinator for three years. She has many scientific publications in the field of Neurology, mainly focused on Multiple Sclerosis, neuro-ophthalmology, and stroke. She served as a member of the organizing committee and as a speaker at many congresses. She is fluent in English and at the basic user level in Greek.
