Dr Ali is a practicing sports physician with vast knowledge and experience in medicals of rugby and football, in both local and international settings. Initially appointed as medical consultant with renowned Malaysian based rugby organizations such as COBRA Club and Sabah Rugby Union for many years.

Dr Ali has since developed passion for this wonderful collision sport. His true interest is seeing the medical aspects of the game develop with the growing games. He led the efforts of improving player welfare system in rugby especially involving young players. Dr Ali is a strong advocator for comprehensive injury prevention who placed tireless efforts disseminating the concepts and practices of pre-participation examination (PPE) and evidence-based immediate care in sports. He has grown with experience as Tournament Medical Director in major international rugby events, leading through numerous successful editions of the International COBRA 10’s and Borneo Sevens International Clubs tournaments and has continued on to do so.

Dr Ali is currently appointed as Medical Consultant for the Malaysian Rugby Union (MRU) and Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) and is pursuing his medical works on the collective ground together with other Asian counterparts as a member of ARFU Medical Committee (MedCom). In practice, he believes in strong teamwork; as the saying of his mentor goes “the team is as strong as its weakest link”. Therefore, knowledge sharing and technology transfer became his utmost priorities. As a Senior Medical Educator with the World Rugby (previously known as International Rugby Board), Dr Ali had travelled near and far to deliver medical training courses for the rugby unions across Asia.

He kept comprehensive injury databases from numerous rugby tournaments, some of which are due for writing and publications. The hardship and sweats from the works with heavy responsibility never stop him from pursuing his interest further.
