Dr. Azita Cuevas is currently a Senior Manager at Combe Incorporated, White Plains, New York, United States. She received her doctorate degree from the New York University School of Medicine, where she examined the mechanisms through which ambient particulate matter drives vascular dysfunction. Before attending NYU, she earned her BA/MS from the University of Colorado in Physiology. She then earned her Master’s in Public Health in Maternal and Child Health/Environmental Science from New York Medical College. She has served on the HOT board as the Post-Doctoral Representative, Graduate Representative, and most recently as a Councilor and Committee Chair for the Awards Committee. As such, she remains energized and committed to the success and development of HOT. She continues to make contributions to the HOT newsletter (Toxenlaces), specifically using her column, “When I Grow Up,” as a venue for members to learn more about each other and obtain advice from other members. She has designed and updated various HOT posters that were used for past SOT meetings as well as assisted in HOT website updates. She also secured ongoing sponsorship funding from PepsiCo for the HOT annual reception and student travel awards. Future endeavors would include writing session proposals and planning training webinars. Dr. Cuevas has been a SOT member since 2007 and a HOT member since 2008 and remains dedicated to the professional development and networking of Hispanic toxicologists by continuing to actively represent the voice of HOT members.
