Azahara Iris Ruperez Cano, Ph.D. is an Investigator and Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Zaragoza. She has worked on multiple aspects related to childhood obesity, from genetics, as well as molecular and cellular aspects, to lifestyle habits. During and after her formative years, in her postdoctoral period, both at the University of Granada and Zaragoza, she collaborated on multiple epidemiological projects to study factors related to childhood obesity and its metabolic and cardiovascular risk consequences. She has also participated as a teacher at the University, and this year she has completed her Master's Degree in Secondary Education. For all these reasons, she has experience in performing statistical analyses, managing databases, preparing presentations, and communicating results. Due to her motherhood and interest in the physical and nutritional health of the little ones, in 2015 she created the Nutrinenes blog. A blog with contrasted and easy-to-understand information regarding diet and physical activity recommendations for pregnant women, babies, and young children. In parallel, since 2016 she has collaborated with the Lactaria Association in Zaragoza, as a breastfeeding consultant to help mothers who have problems breastfeeding their children. She is excited to learn and increasingly interested in social and applied aspects of science.
