Ayappa V. Subramaniam PhD in Molecular Medicine from the Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine, Universiti Sains Malaysia. His research focused on finding an alternative therapy that targets angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, to treat colorectal cancer. An analogy he uses to describe his research is that it is like building a dam to block the river that supplies an enemy camp with water and food, causing them to eventually suffer from malnutrition and death. He has expertise in cell culture 2D and 3D techniques, molecular lab techniques, cancer biology, animal handling, and scientific publications. In addition to his research, he is also actively involved in external organizations to develop his interpersonal skills and networks. He founded the Malaysian Biotechnology Students' Association (MYBIOSA) to increase awareness of biotechnology among Malaysians and to provide a platform for students to develop as holistic individuals.

He is currently working as an Assistant Manager in the Human Development Division at Leave a Nest Malaysia, where he advocates for STEM education awareness and nurtures holistic research scientists that fit into the Malaysian economy ecosystem. He is driven by his sense of purpose, or "ikigai," and believes that every individual should continue to work towards fulfilling their purpose in life.
