Dr. Atta Bhatti is a neurosurgeon whose main interest is in operative micro-neurosurgery, neuroanatomy, neuroradiology, and neuroembryology. He is well versed in the challenges of neurosurgical care in developing countries. Dr. Bhatti has a two-year fellowship in neuroendovascular interventional surgery from Switzerland. He is the only neurosurgeon who is currently practicing both neurosurgical and endovascular specialties in Pakistan. Dr. Bhatti has also specialized in the field of neurointerventional radiology/endovascular neurosurgery. He is trained in procedures including AVMs, aneurysms, cranial dural AFVs, tumor embolization, spinal AVMs, and spinal dural AFVs, carotid stenting, intra-arterial fibrinolysis, and mechanical thrombectomy, super-selective WADA, inferior petrosal sinus sampling, temporary and permanent balloon occlusions, embolization of skull base tumors, management of epistaxis and craniofacial lesions.
Dr. Bhatti has worked as an instructor neurosurgeon at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, and set up the first private sector neurosurgery unit at the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salam, Africa. He acquired his Neuroanatomy, Neuroradiology, and Neurovascular training from Hanover, Germany, Helsinki, Finland, and Zurich, Switzerland. He has contributed to 14 publications in peer-reviewed journals, a book “Neurology in Africa” by Prof Howell and has presented at national and international forums.
