Astrid T. Groot PhD

Groot received her MSc with honors at the University of Amsterdam in 1995, and her PhD from Wageningen University in 2000. She was a postdoc at NSCU, Raleigh, USA, for 3 years, in the labs of Coby Schal and Fred Gould. After receiving a New Investigators grant of USDA (USDA-CSREES) in 2005, she was promoted to research assistant professor at NCSU. In 2007 she moved to Germany to become group leader in the Entomology department at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology (MPICE). In March 2011 she received a MacGillavry fellowship at the University of Amsterdam, where she was offered a tenure-track position as associate professor. To continue to supervise her students and postdocs at MPICE, she still has a 20% appointment at MPICE.
