Ashwin B. Mehta MD, FACC, FCCP, FISE, FICP

Dr. Ashwin B Mehta is a renowned and respected Interventional Cardiologist in Mumbai, with more than 38 years' experience behind him. He is Director of Cardiology at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai. He is also an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Lilavati Hospital, Breach Candy Hospital, S R Mehta Hospital, Harkisondas Hospital, Western Railway Hospital, Cumballa Hill Hospital and Saifee Hospital.
During his academic career and medical practice, Dr Mehta has received innumerable awards and honours. He is a recipient of the prestigious Padmashree National Award, which he was awarded in 2004. Dr. Ashwin Mehta has also been very active on the academic front throughout his career. He has taught hundreds of undergraduate, postgraduate and superspeciality medical students, currently at the DNB Board, and earlier for over 25 years as Hon. Professor of Cardiology at the University of Mumbai and Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Sion, Mumbai. He has been an invited faculty at events in France, Japan, China, Italy, USA, Sri Lanka and Singapore, for demonstrating techniques of Angioplasty. Dr. Mehta has served as Examiner for the DM Cardiology examination at Pune, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Kolkata, and other cities in India.
Dr. Ashwin Mehta is recognised for his pioneering work in India in Cardiac Catheterisation and Angiography in newborn babies, and was also the first to introduce His Bundle Electrography in India and Primary Angioplasty in Acute Myocardial Infarction with first systemic trial. He has performed/supervised more than 10,000 Angioplasties and over 50,000 Angiographies. Dr. Mehta is much-published, and has organised numerous teaching seminars, conferences, symposia and meetings, where he has also actively participated in the presentations and deliberations.
