Dr. Habib received his medical degree at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and completed his training in anesthesiology at the University Hospitals of Leicester, UK. In 2001, he finished his fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center and subsequently joined the faculty at Duke in the Division of Women’s Anesthesia. After completing the Clinical Research Training Program at Duke, Dr. Habib obtained a Master’s in Health Science (MHSc). Currently, his research interests include optimizing postoperative outcomes, such as acute pain and postoperative nausea and vomiting in the general surgical and obstetric patient population; investigating risk factors for opioid-induced respiratory depression; and obstetric anesthesia-related research, including hemodynamic support during cesarean delivery.
