Ashlea Derry

Dr. Ashlea has always enjoyed working with older adults. She began volunteering as a friendly visitor at a local nursing home almost as soon as she could walk and those hours spent with the residents spurred a passion for working in the long-term care industry. She attended college at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Gerontology, then attended graduate school at Concordia University in River Forest, IL completing her Master's degree in Gerontology. She has worked with people with Alzheimer's and other dementias for the past 6 years, and has also experienced seeing her own loved ones go through the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Ashlea spear headed the efforts of reducing antipsychotic medications in the Special Care Unit at Tabor Hills Senior Living, and the community was able to cut their antipsychotic usage by more than half!
