Dr. Malayeri earned his medical degree from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. As a clinical fellow and instructor, he also spent a year receiving sub-specialized body magnetic resonance imaging training at Johns Hopkins. He received the 2013 RSNA Fellow Research Grant when he studied high-resolution MRI imaging of the myocardium in patients with atrial fibrillation.

Dr. Malayeri is currently the Chief of the Body Imaging Section at the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences. In this capacity, he oversees the operations of MRI, CT, ultrasound, and X-ray. In addition to his role at the NIH, Dr. Malayeri continues participating in resident and fellow education by providing lectures and case conferences. He is also involved in several medical imaging societies, including the Radiological Society of North America, as an associate editor for their leading scientific journal, Radiology.

Dr. Malayeri’s research involves optimizing MRI and CT techniques for clinical problem-solving. He is particularly interested in the role of artificial intelligence in detecting, characterizing, and prognosticating diseases.
