Ashish Thakur MBBS, MD, DM, FRCP, FESC

Dr. Ashish Thaku with over 25 years of Cardiology experience, has been practicing as a Consultant Cardiologist in the UK for over 19 years, in diverse clinical and other roles. He will complete 20 years at his current NHS Trust by June 2023. This year (2022) he received the prestigious "V Parameshwara Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Association of Physicians of India (API). Previously he received an individual award for excellence in Teaching from the University of Leeds Medical School in 2015 and was also nominated for the "Best Clinical Teacher of the Year" by the Leeds Medical Students Union in 2015. Currently, he is the TPD co-ordinator for the Regional Teaching Programme for Foundation Year 2 doctors across Leeds/MidYorks/Harrogate.

As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK, (now called Advanced HE) his aim is to enhance the standards of medical and interprofessional education (IPE) and now Intergenerational education (IGE), which is a big challenge. He is also a member of the National Association of Clinical Tutors (NACT) and has recently been appointed Deputy Rep to represent Yorkshire and Humber in the rebranded NACT (MEL-UK), a voluntary role, and a big honor.
