Dr. Arun Ramappa is an orthopedic surgeon and Chief of Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and an Associate Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School. He is a Team Physician for the Boston Red Sox. He is also the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard University Health Services and Medical Director of the Sports Medicine Performance Center at New England Baptist Hospital.
He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School and performed his surgical internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). He completed his training at the Harvard Combined Orthopedics Residency Program (HCORP) where he was selected as Chief Resident at the MGH. He completed several fellowships including a sports and shoulder fellowship at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He specializes in sports injuries and disorders of the knee and shoulder. Dr. Ramappa's research focus includes ACL tears, meniscus tears, shoulder instability, and rotator cuff disorders.
