Dr. Artur Vargas Viana, MD, is a gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist at NYU Langone Health and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He specializes in the diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of complex gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and biliary disorders, with expertise in advanced therapeutic endoscopy.

Dr. Vargas Viana provides comprehensive care for patients with a broad range of digestive diseases, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett's esophagus, achalasia, pancreatic cysts, pancreatitis, biliary disorders, gastroparesis, and other complex gastrointestinal conditions. His advanced procedural expertise includes endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), and other cutting-edge therapeutic endoscopic techniques. These minimally invasive approaches enable the treatment of precancerous lesions, early gastrointestinal cancers, and complex pancreaticobiliary diseases while reducing the need for surgery and promoting faster patient recovery.

Dr. Vargas Viana earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Boston Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Yale New Haven Hospital. He further advanced his training with a fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy at AdventHealth Orlando, where he refined his expertise in complex endoscopic interventions.
