Dr. Bookman is the Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Sjogren’s Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital/UHN. This is an evaluation clinic for patients with Sjogren's Syndrome. Since 1991, over 650 pre-screened patients have been fully assessed in this clinic, and over 250 have documented Primary Sjogren’s Syndrome. The clinic has been the source of several key publications and is now in its twentieth year.
Dr. Bookman is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. He is currently the Program Director for the Division of Rheumatology. He has held several honors including the Distinguished Rheumatologist Award of the Canadian Rheumatology Association, The Dafna Gladman Award for outstanding sustained contribution to the University of Toronto, and the Award of Distinction from the Arthritis Society. He has been the recipient of several teaching awards. He is a former President of the Canadian Rheumatology Association, the current President of the Journal of Rheumatology, and Co-Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Sjogren’s Society of Canada. He is the Past-Chair of the Medical Advisory Board of the Arthritis Society and has been a Division Director for Rheumatology at the Toronto General Hospital.
