Dr. Arshad obtained his medical degree from University of Malaya (M.B.B.S) in 1998. After acquiring his Masters of Sports Medicine from University Malaya in 2007, he works at Arthroscopy and Sports Injury Unit (ASIU) in Kuala Lumpur Hospital from 2007 until 2016. He is a Visiting Consultant Sports Medicine since 2014 and later appointed as Medical Director of Sports Medicine Division, at the National Sports Institute of Malaysia.
He has vast experience working together with Sports Orthopaedics Surgeon in managing traumatic and sports-related injury cases. The case varies from acute, repetitive and chronic injuries until complex cases that require surgical repair, reconstruction or realignment and later on rehabilitation.
Being a Consultant in the National Sports Institute of Malaysia, he has the opportunity to work together with the Sports Medicine team in treating and managing the Malaysian athletes that require specific needs and a high level of precision. Due to his is passion and dedication especially working with elite athletes, he has been entrusted by National Sports Institute to lead the medical team as a Chief Medical Officer for SEA Games Myanmar 2013, ASIA Games Incheon 2014, SEA Games Singapore 2015, Olympic Games Rio 2016, SEA Games KL2017 and ASIA Games Jakarta Palembang 2018.
Dr. Arshad has a special interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound. He works with Musculoskeletal Radiologist in organizing few musculoskeletal ultrasound workshops at national and international conferences for the past few years. Presenting both nationally and internationally around the topic of sports medicine and rehabilitation; he is also embarking on multi-center clinical trials on patellofemoral studies and hamstring injury-related studies. He has co-authored scientific publications that are a testimony to his clinical and research interest.
