Arnold J. Markowitz MD

Arnold J. Markowitz, MD, is an attending gastroenterologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and Director of the Advanced Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Fellowship Training Program. A board-certified gastroenterologist, he specializes in the prevention, early detection, and endoscopic management of gastrointestinal cancers, with particular expertise in hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes, including Lynch syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).

Dr. Markowitz earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York University Medical Center, followed by fellowships in Gastroenterology at the University of Michigan Medical Center and the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Since joining MSKCC in 1994, he has played a pivotal role in advancing gastrointestinal oncology, therapeutic endoscopy, and fellowship education.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Markowitz is actively involved in research focused on hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes, colorectal cancer screening, and advanced endoscopic techniques.
