Dr. Arlene Mann Butz is a professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Butz is a prolific investigator whose work has focused on improving pediatric asthma outcomes among children. Her special interests include pediatric asthma, predictors and influences of treatment outcomes, health disparities in children with asthma, and home-based education and behavioral interventions for high-risk children. She has been continuously funded by NIH for the past 16 years.
After earning a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Butz completed a master's in nursing degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. She went on to receive a doctor of science degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in infection prevention.
