Dr. Ariana L. Smith is the Alan J. Wein Professor of Urology at the University of Pennsylvania, Director of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, and Chief of Urology at Pennsylvania Hospital. She did her residency training at the University of Pennsylvania and fellowship training in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at UCLA. Dr. Smith is a principal investigator for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases Prevention of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (PLUS) Research Consortium.
Her work in the consortium has been on building, through team science, a sound foundation for the design and implementation of bladder health promotion and lower urinary tract symptom prevention research. Dr Smith is currently the treasurer of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU), and an active member of the AUA, serving as a co-chair for the 2024 overactive bladder guideline committee, content writer for the AUA Core Curriculum, and course faculty at the AUA Annual Meeting. She serves on the American Board of Urology Exam Committee.
