Dr. Isaacson completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency and Vascular & Interventional Radiology fellowship at the University of North Carolina after 3 years of service as a flight surgeon in the US Navy. In 2013, he stayed in Chapel Hill and joined the faculty as an assistant professor. Dr. Isaacson’s clinical interests include arterial embolization, interventional oncology and vascular imaging.

Chief among his research interests is prostatic artery embolization, a new minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia. He is the principal investigator for an ongoing clinical trial being performed at UNC with FDA oversight. Dr. Isaacson has received multiple grants to study both embolization and novel nanoparticle treatment of liver cancer. He also enjoys teaching and mentoring students and residents and is the faculty advisor for the UNC School of Medicine Interventional Radiology Interest Group.
