Anwar Santoso MD, PhD

Dr. Anwar Santoso, MD is President of Indonesian Heart Association 2014 – 2016 and is a Consultant Cardiologist at the National Cardiovascular Centre – Harapan Kita Hospital & Dept. Cardiology – Vascular Medicine; Faculty of Medicine – Indonesia University, Indonesia. He specialized in Cardiology at the Airlangga School of Medicine, Surabaya, Indonesia, and then completed Advanced Cardiology training at the Victorian Heart Centre, Epworth Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Santoso is a member of many societies and associations including the Indonesian Atherosclerosis and Vascular Disease Association, Indonesian Heart Association, the Indonesian Internal Medicine Society, and the Indonesian Medical Association. He is a fellow of the ASEAN College of Cardiology, the International College of Angiology, and the American College of Cardiology. He is now appointed as the President of the Indonesian Heart Association 2014 – 2016, and also as the Chairman of the Indonesian Teaching Hospital Association 2011 – 2014. DrSantoso’s research interests are concerned with atherosclerosis, lipidology, hyperhomocysteinemia, heart failure, metabolic syndromes, and adiponectin. As an expert in cardiovascular diseases, Dr. Santoso was the National Coordinating Investigator of the PLATO and COSIMA-2 studies and one of the Investigators of the ADHERE registry and AVERROES clinical study. DrSantoso’s work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals including Atherosclerosis, Heart, Lung and Circulation, American Heart Journal, Journal of Hypertension, Diabetes and Vascular Disease Research, J of ClinExp Cardiology, and International Journal of Angiology.
