Post-doc researcher involved in the Cajal Blue Brain Project at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). His subject areas are Heuristic Optimization and Image Processing. He obtained a MS. in Computer Science at the UPM, a MS. in Distributed Systems at École Superieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne (ENST-B), and a PhD in Computer Science at UPM. He is nowadays member of MIDAS “Data Mining and data simulation group” at the Center of Biotechnology of the UPM. His research activities cover several fields. On the first hand, regarding heuristic optimization, he is interested in the dynamics of hybrid approaches and the application of hybrid methods to large-scale continuous and combinatorial problems, both from the scientific and the industrial domains. On the second hand, he is also interested on the image-processing field, especially focused on biological and medical images. He has participated in different research and development projects related to advanced heuristic optimization and medical images processing. He has published more than 40 papers including many highly ranked international journals such as Soft Computing, Information Sciences, Expert Systems with applications or Frontiers in Neuroanatomy. He is currently member of the IEEE CIS Task Force on Large Scale Global Optimization, a committee focused on promoting high quality research on the field of LSGO.
