Anthony DiGioia, MD, is Medical Director of the Bone and Joint Center and the Innovation Center at Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). An engineer by training, he is a practicing orthopedic surgeon at Magee-Womens Hospital. Dr. DiGioia developed the Patient Centered Value System (PCVS), a comprehensive relationship-based approach that combines three tools: shadowing, team-building and patient-centered system improvement, and a true cost tool based on time-driven, activity-based costing.
