Anthony J. Viera MD, MPH, FAHA

Dr. Anthony Viera is a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. He also holds appointments as Adjunct Professor in the Public Health Leadership Program. Dr. Viera has a special interest in cardiovascular disease prevention, and to that end is leading research in hypertension as well as nutrition and physical activity. Dr. Viera is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and is the Principal Investigator on a number of grants. Dr. Viera also plays an active role in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. He is the Director of the UNC MD-MPH Program (Health Care & Prevention), and he currently holds a Medical Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professorship. He also is co-director of the Scholarship Curriculum for the Family Medicine Faculty Development Fellowship.
