Anthony F. Firek BA, MD, MS

Dr. Anthony F. Firek, M.S., M.D., is a health sciences associate clinical professor of internal medicine with the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine and is director of clinical research for the Riverside University Health System.

Firek earned his B.A. in chemistry from the University of Southern California, then attended the University of Hawaii School of Medicine, where he earned an M.D. and M.S. in pharmacology. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center, then followed with a fellowship in endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic.

Firek has been a clinical instructor at UC Riverside since 1996 and has also served as an assistant professor of medicine for the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. In both programs he was responsible for providing instruction to medical students in the areas of endocrinology and diabetes.

His administrative appointments include being the lead endocrinologist for the Veterans Administration's National Transgender Team, the chief of endocrinology and diabetes at the Loma Linda VA Medical Center, chairman of the Institutional Review Board of Riverside County Regional Medical Center, and group leader of the VA Diabetes Improvement Sub-Committee.
