Anthony Commuzzie PHD, FTOS

Dr. Comuzzie is an expert on the genetics of cardiometabolic diseases. He investigates the complex picture of how genetics and diet interact to influence a wide array of medical conditions, including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, brain functioning, and prenatal development. For this, he works with large family-based cohorts and non-human primate models. He made significant contributions to the genetic epidemiology of cardiometabolic diseases (risk for diabetes, heart disease or stroke and related pathologies). Diseases: cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, Ethnic population studies, Nonhuman primate studies. Dr. Comuzzie has more than 20 years of experience in genetic epidemiology and the genetics of complex metabolic traits. He has been working with the baboon as a model for the study of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease for more than 15 years.
