Anthony Chalmers is Chair of Clinical Oncology at the University of Glasgow. His clinical practice at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre is devoted to the treatment of patients with brain tumours, and he runs a research laboratory in the Institute for Cancer Sciences. His main research goal is to improve outcomes for patients with glioblastoma by combining radiotherapy with targeted drug therapy, but his interest in radiotherapy-drug combinations extend across tumour sites.

He is Deputy Chair of the NCRI Clinical and Translational Radiotherapy Research Working Group (CTRad) and leads the CTRad Radiotherapy-Drug Combinations Consortium. He is also vice-chair of the CRUK Clinical Trials Awards and Advisory Committee (CTAAC) and is on the Scientific Committees of the European Association for Neuro-Oncology (EANO) and the European Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ESTRO). Since arriving in Glasgow in September 2010 he has established the Scottish Radiotherapy Research Forum and is committed to increasing the quantity and quality of radiotherapy research in Scotland.
