Dr. Anthony Arnold Amato, MD, is an internationally recognized neurologist and neuromuscular disease specialist who serves as the BWH Endowed Chair in Neurology and Vice Chairman of the Department of Neurology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is also a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, where he has played a pivotal role in advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and research of neuromuscular disorders. His clinical expertise encompasses muscular dystrophies, inflammatory myopathies, peripheral neuropathies, myasthenia gravis, motor neuron diseases, and clinical neurophysiology.

Dr. Amato earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, completed his internship and neurology residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, and pursued fellowship training in neuromuscular diseases at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Throughout his distinguished career, he has established himself as a leader in neuromuscular medicine, combining exceptional clinical care with pioneering research aimed at improving the diagnosis and management of complex neurological disorders.
