Anthony A. Stans, M.D., is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Mayo Clinic and Shriners Hospitals for Children — Twin Cities. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and earned a medical degree from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Stans completed an internship in surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at the Atlanta Scottish Rite Children’s Medical Center.

Areas of special interest to Dr. Stans are scoliosis and pediatric spine disorders, congenital and developmental conditions of the hip, upper and lower extremity deformity, limb-length discrepancy, growth plate injuries, and consequences of pediatric trauma.

Dr. Stans is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, and is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society. Along with his service to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Twin Cities, at the Mayo Clinic Dr. Stans serves as chairman of the division of pediatric orthopaedics and as surgeon in chief for the Mayo Clinic Children’s Center. He is a consultant in the department of orthopaedic surgery, and an assistant professor of orthopaedics for the College of Medicine.
