Anteneh M. Feyissa, MD, MSc, PhD, FAAN, is an accomplished epileptologist, clinical neurophysiologist, and academic neurologist at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He serves as Associate Professor of Neurology, Director of the Epilepsy Division, and Program Director of the Epilepsy Fellowship Program. His clinical expertise focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of complex seizure disorders, including drug-resistant epilepsy, autoimmune epilepsy, brain tumor–related epilepsy, and epilepsy in women.
Dr. Feyissa earned his medical degree from Addis Ababa University, followed by a Master of Science degree from the National University of Ireland and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He completed his neurology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch and MD Anderson Cancer Center before pursuing fellowships in Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy at Mayo Clinic.
His clinical practice includes advanced epilepsy care, electroencephalography (EEG), neuromodulation therapies, deep brain stimulation, vagus nerve stimulation, responsive neurostimulation, and surgical evaluation for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. He is particularly recognized for his work in autoimmune-associated epilepsy and neuroimmunology.
An active physician-scientist, Dr. Feyissa has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has received both intramural and extramural research funding. His research interests include autoimmune epilepsy, brain tumor–related epilepsy, seizure management, EEG applications, and innovative therapeutic approaches for refractory epilepsy.
