Dr Anshu Srivastava is working as a Professor in the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, India. She completed her basic medical training and MD in Pediatrics from King George's Medical College, Lucknow, and then got trained at SGPGIMS in Gastroenterology with a DM degree.
Following this, she further trained in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne (Australia), Royal Free Hospital, London (UK), and Alberta Children's Hospital, Calgary (Canada).
She first worked as an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at AIIMS, New Delhi, and then at KGMU, Lucknow before joining the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology at SGPGIMS in 2007. After availing the ICMR international fellowship for Young Biomedical Scientists in 2010, she got trained in functional GI and motility disorders at Children's Hospital Milwaukee, USA, and established the first unit to start motility tests in children at SGPGI Lucknow.
She is the recipient of many awards and distinctions including the Prof SR Naik award for Outstanding Research Investigator for the year 2014, the Dr. Alex Mowat award for best hepatology paper in ESPGHAN 2009, the Dr. PN Berry fellowship, etc. Apart from these, she was awarded the Hewett Medal for the best student during her final year of MBBS.
Her research interests include autoimmune liver disease, liver failure (both acute and end-stage with its complications), inflammatory bowel disease, and celiac disease. Dr Anshu has actively contributed to research and has published 15 book chapters and over 125 research papers in peer-reviewed international and national journals of repute. She is the section editor of Pediatric Gastroenterology for the Indian Journal of Pediatrics. In addition, she has worked as the Secretary of the Indian Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ISPGHAN) from 2017-19.
