Anniek Van Doornik PhD, MSc

Anniek van Doornik-van der Zee has been working as a speech therapist since 1994 and since 2007 as a professor of speech and language development disorders in the speech therapy department at the Hogeschool Utrecht. As a speech therapist she has worked with children with speech and language development disorders in her own practice and in special education.

On 1 December 2015 she started her doctoral research into the severity of speech development disorders in children. The research question was partly inspired by the lessons on speech development disorders for speech therapy students. The recurring question of how to determine how bad a speech development disorder actually is can not be answered correctly so far. During her Masters in Speech Therapy she explored this subject in a pilot study. The results of this study gave reason for the design of this PhD research.
