Dr. Miller grew up in Texas and attended Rice University, graduating with honors in biology. After graduating from Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Miller was selected for residency training at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Miller completed a trauma fellowship at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Prior to joining Washington University Orthopedics, Dr. Miller was assistant director of the orthopaedic trauma service at Wake Forest School of Medicine, and was selected for their Career Development for Women Leaders program and as a Brooks Scholar in Medicine.

Dr. Miller has had particular interests in the management and outcomes of elderly patients with fragility fractures and is on the AOA Own the Bone annual meeting committee. Dr. Miller is also involved in numerous multicenter national studies. She is a co-investigator on several federally funded grants, particularly focusing on traumatic injury and how it relates to the treatment of United States soldiers in combat situations as well as automotive crash injury investigation.

Dr. Miller has a national reputation for her achievements and leadership activities. Dr. Miller was a recipient of the 2015 American Orthopaedic Association North American Traveling Fellowship. She is active in the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and serves as an Associate Editor for The Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, the leading musculoskeletal trauma journal. She has also recently been elected the chair of the orthopaedic section of the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma as well as the chair of the AIS content committee for the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine. She is currently a Leadership Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
