Anita P. Mayer MD

Dr. Anita Mayer is an Associate Professor in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree at University of Wisconsin, Madison and completed her Medical Degree at Tulane University in New Orleans. After completing an Internal Medicine Residency at Mayo Clinic Rochester and additional Fellowship within the Division of Community Internal Medicine, she transferred to Mayo Clinic in Arizona at its opening in 1987.

   She was a member of the Division of Community Internal Medicine until 2011 serving as the Division Chair from 1993 until 2002. She is currently the Chair of the Division of Women’s Health Internal Medicine. In 2010 she was appointed to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona’s (MCA) Executive Operations Team.

Throughout her career Dr.  Mayer has been a practicing general internist providing medical care for adult patients primarily women. Additionally her emphasis and passion has been in education, mentoring and faculty development.

During her tenure as Associate Program Director for Mayo Clinic in Arizona’s Internal Medicine residency she was honored as teacher of the year. She helped developed a new position and served as the first Associate Chair for Staff Development in the Department of Medicine from 2002 to 2008.
