Anita Nelson MD

Dr. Anita L. Nelson is Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Western University of Health Sciences, Professor Emeritus, Obstetrics & Gynecology, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. For over 30 years, she has been Medical Director of the Research Division for Essential Access Health, developing and testing new contraceptive options for both women and men with funding from the NIH, the Gates Foundation, and commercial entities.

She has authored over 200 articles for professional journals, dozens of chapters, and several books. She particularly enjoys teaching and has delivered over 3,000 lectures for continuing medical education worldwide. She has received numerous awards for her quality of care, her teaching, her leadership, and her advocacy for women’s reproductive rights.
