Angela M. Bader, MD, MPH is a Professor of Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School and Vice Chairman for Perioperative Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is the Director of the Weiner Center for Preoperative Evaluation, which is considered a benchmarking unit for preoperative assessment and quality improvement. In addition, she has an appointment as a Research Scientist at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Angela Bader’s research focuses on defining and increasing the appropriateness of surgical care with a focus on aligning patient values and goals to ensure concordance with surgical goals. Current CSPH projects address the design and feasibility of surgical decisional counseling using pre-operative structured conversations. A key aim of Dr. Bader’s work is to facilitate conversations between the patient, healthcare proxy, and surgeon.
