Dr. Leon is a Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and is Chief of Cardiology Service at Emory, Crawford Long Hospital. He holds the Linton and June Bishop Chair in Medicine.
Dr. Leon received his undergraduate degree at Harvard University and his M.D. from the University of Miami in Florida. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital. Cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships were done Emory. His cardiac electrophysiology fellowship was completed at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He has been Emory Faculty since 1992.
Dr. Leon‘s professional interests involve the treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He is actively involved in the clinical application and research into catheter ablation and pacemaker – ICD implantation.
The areas of specific interest include ablation of atrial fibrillation, supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia, ICD implantation for sudden cardiac death prevention, and cardiac resynchronization for the treatment of congestive heart failure.
