Dr. Andrew Ziskind, also known as Andy, MD has been the Managing Director of Huron Healthcare Practice at Huron Consulting Group Inc., since January 5, 2012. Dr. Ziskind leads Huron Healthcare's Clinical solutions service line. Dr. Ziskind joins Huron Healthcare from Accenture where he provided leadership for the Accountable Care Organization and Academic Health System practices and was a senior executive in the Health & Public Service operating group. Dr. Ziskind is an interventional cardiologist with extensive clinical and administrative experience. He has developed and led innovative primary care and specialty delivery systems. During his career, Dr. Ziskind has served as vice dean for Clinical Affairs and Health System vice president at the University of Washington, as president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and group president at BJC HealthCare. He served as Senior Vice President of BJC HealthCare since September 2009. Dr. Ziskind served as President, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and of BJC HealthCare from May 2005 to September 14, 2009. Dr. Ziskind served as President of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. He oversaw the operation of the flagship adult teaching hospital affiliated with BJC HealthCare. Dr. Ziskind served as associate vice president for clinical programs and vice dean for clinical affairs for the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle. There he was responsible for coordinating clinical services across UW Medicine, an academic health system that includes the University of Washington Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, UW School of Medicine, UW Neighborhood Clinics and affiliated faculty practice plans. Prior to joining the University of Washington, Dr. Ziskind held various leadership positions with the University of Maryland, including vice president of clinical services. Dr. Ziskind is an adjunct professor of medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Ziskind led the development of the University of Maryland Cardiac Network, an innovative partnership with local physicians and managed care companies and also led the successful expansion of the cardiac catheterization laboratory. He served as a Director of Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He is widely published, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians and American Heart Association Council on Clinical Cardiology, as well as a number of other professional organizations. Dr. Ziskind is a 1980 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry. He earned his medical degree in 1984 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine, and his clinical and research fellowship training in cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He holds master's degree in business administration from the Sellinger School of Business and Management, Loyola College of Maryland.
