Dr. Andrew Wellman, MD, PhD, is a distinguished physician-scientist and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School with deep expertise in sleep medicine and sleep-disordered breathing. He serves as the Director of the Sleep Disordered Breathing Laboratory and Director of the Sleep Medicine Consultation Service at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he leads clinical and translational research aimed at understanding and treating conditions such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Dr. Wellman’s research focuses on the pathophysiology of OSA, including patient endotyping to identify biological subtypes of the disorder. His work has advanced the development of novel therapeutic approaches for patients who are intolerant to standard treatments like continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), including pharmacologic strategies that have progressed toward clinical application.

A prolific author and respected voice in his field, Dr. Wellman has published over 100 original research articles and contributed chapters to leading medical textbooks such as Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine and Principles and Practice of Sleep Medicine. He has presented his work internationally across multiple continents.
