Andrew Thatcher is a Professor and Chair of Industrial/Organisational Psychology at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) where he has been working since 1995. He obtained his PhD in Psychology from Wits in 2003. He is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Industrial Psychologist. He is currently President of the Ergonomics Society of South Africa, and Chair of the International Ergonomics Association’s Human Factors for Sustainable Development Technical Committee.

His teaching areas are in cognitive ergonomics, engineering psychology, organisational effectiveness, and research design, research analysis. His research interests are on wellbeing and productivity in green buildings, the psychological factors in the adoption of sustainable technologies, and the theoretical development of human factors and sustainability.
