Andrew T. Goldstein

Dr. Andrew T. Goldstein grew up in Bridgeton, New Jersey and graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He pursued his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Beth Israel Medical Center. After completing his residency, Dr. Goldstein moved to Annapolis, Maryland and started the Sexual Wellness Center which is devoted to the treatment of female sexual dysfunction. In 1999, he joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and he became the Director of the Center for Vulvovaginal Disorders in Washington, D.C. and New York City in 2002.
Dr. Goldstein is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he has been elected as a Felllow of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease and to the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. Dr Goldstein is a grant recipient of the National Vulvodynia Association, and he is President-Elect of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health. He is the editor of the textbook Female Sexual Pain Disorders: Evaluation and Management that was be published by Blackwell-Wiley in February 2009. He also recently co-authored the chapter on female sexual dysfunction for the Johns Hopkins Manual of Gynecology and Obstetrics and his book Reclaiming Desire was published by Rodale Books in 2004 and the second edition of that book was released in 2010. Lastly, Dr. Goldstein's newest book When Sex Hurts was released by DaCapo in January 2011.
Dr. Goldstein is actively involved in research and has published more than 75 peer-reviewed abstracts, papers, and chapters on lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, and vulvar vestibulitis syndrome. He is an Associate-Editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine and The Female Pateint. Dr. Goldstein lectures frequently on the subjects of vulvodynia, vulvar disease, and female sexual dysfunction. He has been interviewed by ABC's 20/20, The View, The Dr. Oz Show, Good Morning America, Discovery Health, TLC, Allure, Prevention, the Washington Post, USA Today, and the New York Times.
