Andrew Salama DDS, MD

Dr. Andrew Salama obtained his DDS and MD degrees from the University of Maryland School of Dental Medicine and School of Medicine respectively. He completed his OMFS training at the University of Maryland in 2005 and joined the faculty at the University of Maryland Medical Center following the completion of a Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstruction in 2007. His primary clinical interests include the treatment of head and neck malignancies and tumors, microvascular reconstruction, and surgical management of craniofacial trauma.

He commits to teaching on many levels and is currently a professor and Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Northwell Health-Long Island Jewish Medicine Center. His current clinical research involves evaluating bone healing following reconstruction of the mandible with microvascular free tissue transfer and SEER-based outcomes for head and neck cancer. He has published extensively in the peer-reviewed literature and has written several textbook chapters. He has traveled nationally and internationally to present abstracts and research.
