Andrew Morris is a Professor of Statistical Genetics at the University of Liverpool. The primary aim of his research is the development of powerful statistical methods for the analysis of genome-wide association and sequencing studies and their implementation in user-friendly software that can be distributed to the wider research community. Current themes of his research include the development of methodology for genome-wide meta-analysis, including aggregation of studies from diverse populations for fine-mapping; improved modeling of complex traits (including multivariate analyses and 'time-to-event' outcomes in pharmacogenetics); and powerful analysis of rare genetic variation in “gene-based” tests. He currently co-leads international collaborative efforts to understand the genetic basis of a wide range of complex human traits and diseases, including type 2 diabetes, kidney function, gestational diabetes and endometriosis. His research expertise includes genetic epidemiology and statistical genomics.
